Thar project

We started our journey from Karachi to Tharparkar, the largest district of the Sindh province. During our eight-hour long drive, we witnessed a dramatic shift in the landscape — from high-rise buildings and ring roads to slum settlements, and finally to the endless, arid desert land of Tharparkar.

Tharparkar, though rich in culture and tradition, remains one of the most impoverished regions in Pakistan. Poverty is deeply rooted here, visible in the simple, fragile homes scattered across the barren land. The biggest challenge for the people of Thar is access to clean water. With no reliable water facility, women and children often walk miles under the harsh sun just to fetch a few pots of water from distant wells.

Life in Tharparkar is a constant struggle for survival, but the spirit and resilience of its people shine as brightly as the golden sands that define this extraordinary land.
